a wicker rescue

we hit the jackpot at estate sales this weekend! here is another one of our finds, a wicker set for $15. it was struggling, but still had a lot of potential. we came to the rescue.
jed scraped off a lot of the old paint with a wire brush, and then we hosed them off and scrubbed them clean.
here is the cleaned up version.
jackson wanted to help, but then needed rest. he has a hard life.
we wanted to brighten up our front porch, so we used bright yellow krylon for outdoor furniture.
here is the finished product, on our porch. it took forever, and my wrists still hurt. i learned a lot about spray paint, and it was way more difficult than i thought it would be.
in the end, i think it was worth it. now we have a bright and lovely place to sit and watch the world go by.
have you taken on any projects lately that were way work than you thought they would be?

i am honored to tell you that i was featured by the wonderful folks at

  4. Morning Becca, You all did a great job on the wicker, love the color.

I am trying to get my wicker painted key Lime, but there is either too much wind or it is raining. Hopefully soon.

  5. Oh that is too much fun. I think yellow is one of the most inviting colors you can use, and to even think that these were once in such bad shape... they're certainly great now! Thank you for linking these to the Boardwalk Bragfest. They are extremely brag worthy! Great job!

  6. Hmmmm...Becca,
I think that Jackson really did all the painting and you are making up a story about your wrists hurting to get sympathy.
    *wink*
    The yellow is so happy!
I love yellow- it's my favorite color, actually.
    (That and white).
And what a great deal you got! Oh, my!
I primed and repainted all three of my bistro sets last Fall (plain ol' boring black), and I KNOW what you mean about taking forever and having hurting hands.
And my thumb was black for a week afterward.
I hope you and Jed (and Jackson) make many happy memories sitting on your porch watching the world go by!
Blessings to you as you make your home today!

  7. Wow, looks so great=0) Your poor wrists!

I white washed the cabinets, when we moved into our house. It took 3 weeks and it just about sent me to the crazy house!!! Looked great, but WAY more work than I ever imagines.

    xoxo,
    Carol
