… We got engaged at Disney World in Orlando! It was an incredible day when Jed surprised me with the big questions and a gorgeous sapphire ring. We were in Florida for the Young Life All Staff Conference that happens every four years. All of our YL friends were there with us, so after our day at the park alone, we got to celebrate with so many people that we love.

Jed found the perfect place to propose – this little rose garden in front of Cinderella’s castle. I had always dreamed of going to the Magic Kingdom, and was so happy that Jed chose that day to propose.
We didn’t coerce a stranger into taking a picture of us making out. We had the camera set up with a timer, and after the 1st shot he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. After I said yes and we both cried, we took a few more pictures.
It was a truly magical day at the Magic Kingdom. I had forgotten that today was the day until Jed reminded me during our 20 week ultrasound this morning. He pointed out that it was amazing that three years later we were seeing our baby and preparing for his or her arrival. I’m so thankful for this man who loves me so well. I’ll post the ultrasound picture later, so come back soon.

How did your man propose? …or What would be your dream proposal?

  1. My husband proposed under the huge lit Christmas Tree in Zilker Park in Austin. He gave me a hug and told me he was going to love me forever. i told him i was going to love him forever too. He said, “Well good.” and got down on one knee and proposed. It was so sweet and romantic.
My sister got engaged at WDW too, right in front of Cinderella’s castle. It’s a great spot!

  2. lol! Now that I think about where my hubs proposed, it’s kind of corny and spastic. While we were dating and engaged, we’d go on walks around my neighborhood every night. And every night we’d end our walks in the same spot…the parking lot of a Nazarene church. We’d stand there, hold hands, kiss (never made out because that just felt sacrilegious!) and stare at the stars while talking.

One night, he was just extra jumpy, and we practically ran to our ending point instead of going through the whole walk. We talked about the stars, pointing out our favorite constellations, and then he pointed to the north star, the only one that never moves or disappears. Ty reached up and “took” the north star, dropped down to one knee, and asked me to be his wife. I nearly knocked him down by practically jumping on him in an enthusiastic “YES!”

Needless to say, I still claim that parking lot as mine 🙂

  3. How lovely, and to be reminded on such a significant day, well done Jed 🙂

I actually did the proposing to my man, just to break tradition! The proposal was nothing fancy, over dinner at our favourite Japanese restaurant on Karl’s birthday (we met on his birthday some 12 years or so before), the funniest thing was, I was so nervous about asking him, he actually said afterwards he was touched because it was the first time he had ever seen me so nervous about anything!

We are now starting plans for our wedding this October 🙂
