Kids are a blessing and a gift to parents and family, but they can be expensive. There are so many ways to save money on your child’s wardrobe to help you make it through these fast growing years without breaking the bank. How many times have we had a child outgrow an outfit before they even get a chance to wear it? Very rarely do my kids actually get to wear something until it is worn out. They grow too fast! Spending a ton of money on kids’ clothes just doesn’t make sense when you are on a tight budget, but there are ways to dress your kids well without spending a ton.Three Practical Tips for Dressing Kids on a Budget

Three Tips for Dressing Kids on a Budget

  • Think about what your kids will actually be doing, and buy or find clothes for that. I love fancy toddler smocked dresses, but my girl loves to play in the dirt. She needs dresses, shorts, leggings, and shirts that can keep up with her active nature. I buy one fancy dress (at a consignment sale) and the spend the rest of our clothing budget on play clothes. Choose comfortable, durable options that work on the playground or in the backyard. You don’t want to have to tell your child not to play so they don’t ruin their outfit. We love hand-me-downs, consignment sales, and budget brands.
  • Shop affordable, dependable brands that give you cute, practical options at good prices. Garanimals clothes from Walmart can help you stretch your budget with mix-and-match styles that combine quality and value. Shop their fashions for babies, toddlers, and big kids in stores or online.
  • Know when to quit. Your child doesn’t need a different outfit for every day of the month. Kid clothes are so cute that it is easy to keep buying. Take a hard look at your child’s wardrobe, and if they have a real need meet it. They need clothes they can play in comfortably, not the latest on trend brand. Toddlers have a fashion sense, but it doesn’t usually line up with Paris runways or Instagram fashionistas.
