ellie and fisher

In the name of Christmas card photos, I coerced my family out in to a field at our favorite hiking spot dressed in coordinating clothing while I snapped 1,276 frames trying to get a few usable ones for our cards. My precious Pearl Girl is wearing the most darling little dress from my new favorite local shop. I am in love with Olive Mae Clothing, a Plano based store featuring gorgeous handmade clothes for little girls designed and sewn in the back of the shop and sold in the store and online here.

DIY Resurrection Eggs for Toddlers and Preschool Kids

DIY Resurrection Eggs for Teaching Toddlers and Preschoolers about Easter - Made to Go with the Jesus Storybook BibleEaster is one of my favorite holidays, bringing a joyful celebration of faith to our family every year. Though the holiday itself is filled with joy, the season of Lent reminds us of the suffering of Christ and is difficult to teach to young children. While teaching about Christmas is easy, because babies are fun and easy to celebrate, the Cross and Easter are a bit of a challenge. I created a set of DIY Resurrection Eggs for toddlers and preschoolers and paired them with stories from The Jesus Storybook Bible to help us teach our kids about the real meaning of the holiday. We still celebrate with bunnies and chocolate and cute Easter outfits, but this activity is simple to create and really explains it in a way kids can understand. Be sure to check out our other fun ideas for Easter here.

For those reasons we decided to give our kids a sweet little play tent for Christmas this year. We had two requirements. It needed to be cute and easily stored. I didn’t want something huge and ugly in my living room, and I wanted to be able to take it down and set it up in seconds. Today we’re sharing how we created our DIY play tent and reading nook as part of the Fort Building Challenge from Building Blocks and Acorns. This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and DripDrop®, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #DrinkDripDrop #DripDropHydrates http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Five Tips to Help You Feel Better and Stay Sane When Your Family is Sick #DripDropHydratesThe winter sickness season is the worst. My family passed around one illness or another from the day after Christmas until the last week in January. *Fingers crossed* I’m praying we are done being sick, because I am OVER it. We’ve had colds, the stomach virus, pink eye, and a minor dose of the flu, as well as the never ending cough that sounds like my kids are tiny coal miners. You know the drill – one person starts showing symptoms and the roulette wheel spins to see who comes down with it next. I love my husband more than life itself, but when he gets sick it is way worse than the kids. I asked my mama friends for their best tips, and added my best advice to help you battle the crud. After the month long war on illness we’ve waged, I’m sharing five tips to help you and your family feel better and help you stay sane when your family is sick.

Four Easy Ways to Entertain Kids with a Cardboard Box

Four Easy Ways to Entertain Kids with a Cardboard BoxIt is a parenting truth almost universally acknowledged that kids prefer empty boxes to almost any toy. All those expensive and beautifully designed toys we so lovingly picked out for our children have all been tossed to the wayside in favor of a giant empty box that once held our new toilet. We are revamping our bathroom, and after installing the toilet Christmas came all over again for my kids. They have been playing with the large empty box for DAYS. This is nothing out of the ordinary at our house. Any time a package arrives, the Bear asks if he can have the box. Use their interest to your advantage and try these four easy ways to entertain kids with a cardboard box.
