Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the Word of God.

Verse of the Week – Psalm 42:7-8
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.
By day the LORD directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
Psalm 42:7-8
This verse has always spoken to me of the way God’s love covers me. He swept over me with His love, relentless like the waves, and for that I’m forever grateful. There is a song by Pat Green that reminds me of God’s pursuit of me.
verse of the week – ephesians 5:1-2
“be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love; just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and a sacrifice to God.”
-ephesians 5:1-2
how do we become imitators of God?
if my identity comes from being a child of God, a dearly loved child, how then should i live my life?
i am constantly trying to figure out a way to live like Jesus, and mostly failing at it. in the midst of my selfish existence, i hope i can find a way to live a life of love. i’m guessing it will be something i’ll be trying to figure out for the rest of my life. so much of our world is about hate, anger, greed, lust, and violence. i just want to be about love.
verse of the week – 1 john 1:9
“if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 john 1:9
the memory verse for this week is a reminder of our forgiven status. we are forgiven, and get to live in the freedom of that knowledge. my hope is that i will treat others with grace and forgiveness if i am reminded of God has done the same for me. join me in memorizing a verse per week.
grace
“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
1 Timothy 1:15-17
