simple diy pumpkin spice latte

Fall is so close I can almost taste it. Oh wait, that’s the delicious DIY pumpkin spice latte I whipped up this morning. I love a coffee shop treat as much as the next girl, but a daily splurge would wreck havoc on our budget. Instead of spending $5 a day on my favorite fall treat I’m making my own this year. There are quite a few of these recipes floating around Pinterest, and I’ve tried several but not found one I just loved until now. The main difference is that I don’t add any type of sweetener, because I don’t like super sweet coffee. I normally drink my coffee with just a touch of flavored creamer, so most pumpkin spice latte recipes are far too sweet for me. Mine keeps it simple and you can sweeten it up to your taste. Best of all, in under ten minutes you can make enough for a work week’s full of frugal  treats.

pumpkin spice latte mix

Ingredients:

brewed coffee

1/2 tsp vanilla

1/2 can of pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie mix) approximately 7.5 ounces

1 drop of Thieves essential oil (bonus points of immune system support with your coffee treat)

If you don’t have Thieves oil, you can use 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice.

1/2 cup milk

1 tbsp vanilla flavored coffee creamer (or if you want to use heavy cream or an unflavored milk alternative just double the vanilla)

Blend all ingredients except the coffee in your blender. Add three tablespoons to a cup of brewed coffee (6-8 ounce cup) and stir well. Add the sweetener of your choice if desired and enjoy. Freeze the rest in a muffin tin, spooning out 3 tablespoons each in to 4 muffin cups. Just like that you’ve got a week worth of pumpkin spice latte goodness.

Brew a cup (r a pot) of coffee.

My recipe for Sneaky Veggie Chocolate Muffins would also pair well with pumpkin spice coffee.

  1. Oh, I am SO HAPPY to see this!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for NO ADDED SWEETENER!! And I can sub in my unsweetened vanilla almond milk… and maybe some coconut oil… Pumpkin puree has just gone on the shopping list! *happy sigh*

  2. I made a few different recipes and this is my favourite. Subbed in original almond milk, doubled the vanilla as recommended, and added a pinch of raw sugar. I normally like my coffee black, so it was nice that it wasn’t too sweet!
